UBC President Martha Piper, Medicine Dean Dr. John Cairns
and Ike Barber, a B.C. industrialist, will announce major
funding to bring to B.C. a new procedure for diabetes treatment
currently available only in Alberta.
In addition, the dean will introduce the renowned researcher
and surgeon who is joining UBC’s Faculty of Medicine to lead
this new initiative.
