Scott Macrae to be director of Public Affairs at UBC

Veteran journalist Scott Macrae will be the new director of the
Public Affairs Office at the University of British Columbia as of
Dec. 1.

An alumnus of UBC, Macrae has an extensive background in journalism,
media relations and communications in Vancouver.

He began his career with The Vancouver Sun in 1972 and
was city editor from 1986 to 1989 and managing editor from 1989
to 1991. He also served five years as director of Communications
for the City of Vancouver.

Macrae joins UBC from Fisheries Renewal BC, where he has been
director of Communications, responsible for community-based program
delivery and government relations.

Macrae replaces Paula Martin, who left UBC earlier this year to
become vice-president, Public Affairs and Corporate Communications,
at VanCity.

UBC’s Public Affairs Office is responsible for communicating UBC’s
mission, key messages, and values to both its internal community
of students, faculty, and staff, and to the broader external community.
