UBC Congregation update

UBC recognizes teachers who make a difference

History Prof. Christopher Friedrichs’ students say he could read
the telephone book and make it interesting. Sociology Assoc. Prof.
Kenneth Stoddart reaches people across the province on the Knowledge
Network. And students in Assoc. Prof. Margaret Blom’s English lectures
have been moved to tears. They are just some of the 23 faculty members
receiving University Killam Teaching Prizes during UBC’s Spring
Congregation ceremonies. Recipients of the prizes, which recognize
the fundamental importance of teaching at the university, are selected
by their faculties on the basis of recommendations from colleagues
and from past and present students.
