Andrew Trites, the director of the Marine Mammal Research Unit at UBC’s Institute for the Oceans and Fisheries, said the Vancouver Park Board’s decision to ban cetaceans from the city’s aquarium is “short-sighted,” CBC reported.
Trites said some conservation research is only possible with animals under controlled conditions.
