Faculty of Medicine members to be inducted to Canadian Medical Hall of Fame

The Faculty of Medicine’s Judith G. Hall and Julio Montaner have been selected for induction to the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame. Each year, up to six individuals are recognized for their extraordinary contribution to improving the health of Canadians and people world-wide.

Hall specializes in the genetic factors that affect children’s growth and has been at the international forefront of genetics and pediatrics for more than four decades. As head of pediatrics at UBC and B.C. Children’s Hospital, Hall worked with physicians to develop guidelines for care of common disorders in children, and with lay groups to explain genetic disease, helping parents make informed choices about available care options for their kids.

Montaner is a professor of medicine at UBC, founding co‐director of the Canadian HIV Trials Network and director of the B.C. Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS at St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver. His life’s work has directly contributed to the increased survival and dignity of people living with HIV in Canada and the world. Click here for more information.
