The Guardian spoke to Mark Turin, a professor of anthropology at UBC, for an article about a film made in two Haida dialects, which only about 20 people speak.
The film aims to preserve the language, and Turin said that about half of approximately 7,100 languages worldwide were “severely endangered.”
