Bloomberg reported on a UBC study about India’s central bank.
The study was led by Amartya Lahiri, director at Mumbai-based think tank Centre for Advanced Financial Research and Learning and a professor at UBC. The researchers found that operating losses could push the central bank to seek financial assistance from the government, compromising its autonomy.
