A CBC article about smartphone use quoted Ryan Dwyer, a second-year PhD student at UBC, who recently co-authored a study with psychology professor Elizabeth Dunn. The researchers found that participants enjoyed a meal more if they put their smartphones away. “Not only did they enjoy the experience less, but they also found the experience to be more boring,” Dwyer said.
The study was mentioned in another CBC article about a 14-year-old who doesn’t want a cellphone.
