Canadian court halts expansion of Trans Mountain oil pipeline

Various media outlets interviewed UBC professors about the Federal Court of Appeal ruling regarding Indigenous groups in a case related to the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion.

The New York Times interviewed Gordon Christie, a professor of law, about consultations with Indigenous groups.

Christie and George Hoberg, a public policy professor, were also quoted in a Canadian Press story (on CTV Vancouver Island, in Burnaby Now and the North Shore News).

The Canadian Press interviewed Hoberg and Werner Antweiler, a business professor, about potential impacts of the ruling. The story appeared on Global, CTV Saskatoon, in Star Vancouver and North Shore News. Hoberg was also quoted in a Star Vancouver article.

Andrew Trites, a marine mammal researcher at UBC, was quoted in a Globe and Mail article about how the pipeline decision affects whales.

Eric Taylor, a UBC professor of zoology and the chair of the Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada, spoke to CBC about the decision to leave out the project-related tanker traffic in the review.

Another Canadian Press article (on BNN Bloomberg and Toronto Star) quoted Kathryn Harrison, a political scientist. Harrison was also quoted in Business in Vancouver.
