How energy-efficient new homes can lead to increased carbon emissions

Anthropocene Magazine highlighted work on energy efficiency of homes by UBC researchers.

The study, by Joe Dahmen, a professor at UBC’s school of architecture and landscape architecture, and data analyst Jens von Bergmann, showed that it would take an average of 168 years for a high-efficiency home built in Vancouver today to “earn back” its embodied emissions.

Dahmen and von Bergmann were also interviewed on Breakfast Television and CKNW on the same topic.
