Eric Taylor, a UBC professor of zoology, was quoted in a Vancouver Sun article about the likelihood that Fraser River sockeye salmon will be officially protected under the federal Species at Risk Act.
If the sockeye were officially protected, it would effectively close all Fraser sockeye fisheries until the populations recover, Taylor said.
