A New York Times article profiled Rumana Monzur, who was attacked and blinded in 2011 by her husband in Bangladesh after telling him she wanted a divorce. Despite her disability, Monzur went on to graduate from UBC’s Peter A Allard School of Law, and is currently studying for the bar exam while working at a law firm.
