Smartphone apps that track physical activity may not be accurate

Hindustan Times and Roundhouse Radio reported on a UBC study which found that smartphone fitness trackers may be under-reporting your physical activity. However, while people should use caution when relying on smartphone data, they shouldn’t be discouraged from using health apps for motivation. The researchers said if their phone says they are getting the recommended 10,000 steps in a day, then they are probably getting at least that many and they are working towards improving their health.
