The Times Colonist quoted Michael Byers, a UBC international law professor and Canada Research Chair in Global Politics and International Law, who took part in a session on climate justice in Victoria.
Byers said Canadian courts should pursue fossil-fuel companies for the costs of climate-change damage the way they went after big tobacco companies for health-care costs related to smoking.
