Alejandro Adem, Canada Research Chair at UBC and the scientific director of Mitacs, a not-for profit organization that funds research and training at universities, wrote an op-ed for the Vancouver Sun.
“The essence of scholarship and scientific research is the relentlessly iterative dynamic between hypothesizing, experimentation, critical scrutiny and innovation,” Adem wrote.
Walter Mérida, a UBC professor of mechanical engineering who works on viable solutions to sustainable energy, was also mentioned in the op-ed.
