New spray could help buildings withstand earthquake

NBC’s Portland affiliate, KGW, reported on UBC researchers who developed seismic-resistant concrete.

Nemy Banthia, a UBC engineering professor, said “if you put fibre reinforcement [onto existing structures], these fibres will actually bridge these cracks once the cracks are formed, and the concrete will continue to take stresses without collapsing.”
