Daily Mail reported on UBC research that connected free oxygen in Earth’s atmosphere to changes in the planet’s crust.
Matthijs Smit, a geologist at UBC and study co-author, said “oxygenation was waiting to happen. All it may have needed was for the continents to mature.”
