Many startup ‘unicorns’ overvalued, UBC research indicates

UBC research shows that many unicorns–innovative startups valued at more than $1 billion US–are overvalued, reports the Globe and Mail.

The research was led by Will Gornall, assistant professor of finance at the UBC Sauder School of Business. Gornall doesn’t think the data shows companies are deliberately misleading people, but he advised investors to always read the fine print in business and investment.
