David Boyd, an environmental lawyer and UBC professor, commented on the outcome of land ownership disputes in New Zealand that have resulted in new laws recognizing that nature has legal rights.
In a Vancouver Sun op-ed, Boyd said: “If New Zealand can achieve justice, reconciliation and sustainability through this radical new approach, then Canada should consider implementing it here.”
