Evan Wood, a UBC medicine professor, Canada Research Chair in Inner City Medicine, and the director of the B.C. Centre on Substance Use, wrote an op-ed for the Globe and Mail about the opioid epidemic.
He wrote that “it is crucial that the addiction treatment system be developed alongside efforts to reduce the prescribing of opioid drugs for the treatment of chronic non-cancer pain.”
