The Vancouver Sun published an op-ed by Josephine Chiu-Duke, a UBC professor of Asian studies, about the late intellectual leader Liu Xiaobo.
Chiu-Duke wrote that “[Liu’s] actions not only kept alive the tradition of modern Chinese intellectual pursuit of democracy, but also enriched the record of universal longing for liberty, equality and justice in human history.”
