Nicole Barrett, an expert on law and human trafficking from UBC’s Peter A. Allard School of Law, was quoted in a Toronto Star story about judicial training in areas including sex assault.
Speaking on a panel, Barrett said many women don’t leave abusive situations because of isolation, a lack of financial independence, and broken self-esteem.
