News 1130 reported on a UBC study that found large-scale fisheries get about four times more subsidies than small-scale companies.

Senior study author Rashid Sumaila, a professor and director of the Fisheries Economics Research Unit at UBC’s Institute for the Oceans and Fisheries, said overfishing and pollution should not be rewarded with subsidies but taxed instead.
