Battle lines drawn in Vancouver Aquarium debate

Andrew Trites, a professor and director of UBC’s Marine Mammal Research Unit, was quoted in a Globe and Mail story about the possible ban on the importation and display of cetaceans at the Vancouver Aquarium.

He said if the aquarium gives good care to an animal which can’t survive in the wild, there is nothing wrong with keeping it in captivity to serve an educational purpose.
