The China-led Belt and Road initiative should be viewed as a positive step in countering growing protectionism, says UBC professor Yves Tiberghien in an op-ed for Nikkei Asian Review.
Tiberghien, director of the Institute of Asian Research at UBC, noted that since 2014, China had invested about $15 billion a year in countries participating in the initiative.
