Event: Design and innovation day at the faculty of applied science

Student teams from 15 different applied science programs at the University of British Columbia will highlight their senior work in an annual design showcase and competition. The projects allow students to apply their knowledge and explore opportunities for partnering with industry. Innovations include:
- Insole that keeps your feet warm by harvesting your kinetic energy (Life Sciences Atrium, 2350 Health Sciences Mall)
- Compression band that gives comfort to a child with autism when they feel overstimulated (Life Sciences Atrium, 2350 Health Sciences Mall)
- Vision for Southeast False Creek including a master plan, housing, public spaces and furniture design (MacMillan Building, 2357 Main Mall)
- Tool for writing technology to empower individuals with physical disabilities (Kaiser Atrium, 2332 Main Mall)
- Smart ear tags (video) that monitor cattle health and herd activity (Kaiser Bldg., Rm 2020/2030, 2332 Main Mall)
- Educational robot (video) that helps train students in modern robotics software (Hennings Bldg., Rm 115, 6224 Agricultural Road)
