B.C. to tweak foreign buyer tax, but affordability remains elusive

Thomas Davidoff, a professor at the UBC Sauder School of Business, was quoted in the National Post about housing affordability.

He said B.C. should require municipalities to rezone for buildings to accommodate higher density.

The story also appeared in the Vancouver Sun and other Postmedia outlets.

Davidoff and David Ley, a UBC geography professor, were also quoted in a Vancouver Sun story about possible solutions to Vancouver’s housing crisis.

Davidoff said people who want to leave their home vacant or occupied by low-income earners must contribute to taxes. Ley said Vancouver should model a tax after one in England.
