New UBC forecasting tool predicts Vancouver houses at risk of teardown

Canadian Architect highlighted a UBC forecasting tool that predicted one-quarter of detached homes in Vancouver could be torn down between now and 2030.

Joseph Dahmen, a UBC professor of architecture, said when a building is worth less than 10 per cent of the property’s total value, the probability of teardown and replacement increases dramatically.
