The Times Colonist cited UBC research that identified Owl Island as having “significant ecological value owing to its outstanding endangered Garry oak maritime meadow and coastal bluff ecosystem.”
The 2015 survey of plants was conducted by Tara Martin, a professor in UBC’s department of forest and conservations sciences.
