The argument for providing ‘essential medicines’ for free in Canada

CTV featured a study on Canada’s healthcare system co-authored by Steve Morgan, a professor at UBC’s school of population and public health.

Morgan and Nav Persaud argue that the system should cover the cost of 117 essential medicines that account for nearly half of all prescriptions issued in the country and save billions of dollars.

Similar stories appeared in the Globe and Mail, CBC, and Global.

North Shore News also reported on Morgan’s research that found not taking prescribed medications can have serious implications for older people.
