Pat McGeer, a UBC psychiatry professor emeritus and UBC alumnus, was interviewed on CBC’s BC Almanac about the link between new Vancouver General Hospital operating rooms and surgery wait times.

McGeer said the absence of surgery wait lists before the federal prohibition of doctor fees and private billing made in 1984, led to the reduced use of formerly round-the-clock operating rooms.
