Daniel Pauly, the principal investigator for the Sea Around Us Project at UBC’s institute for the oceans and fisheries, found that global fish catches have been under-reported by at least 50 per cent, the Vancouver Sun reported.
Pauly said results of the Global Atlas of Marine Fisheries show catches are higher than expected, although the catch has declined steadily since 1996.
