David Fraser, an animal welfare professor at UBC, was quoted in a Fortune Magazine story after the U.S. National Chicken Council released a study that looked into the implications of switching to slower-growing chicken breeds.
Fraser said many animal welfare issues were created in the pursuit of efficiency for the food industry.
