Beverley McLachlin was first woman to lead supreme court in the Commonwealth

Beverley McLachlin, a former UBC law professor, was honoured in the Vancouver Sun‘s list of 150 notable British Columbians.

In 2000, McLachlin became the first female chief justice appointed to any Commonwealth country’s supreme court.
