B.C. won’t cover drug that’s could cure woman with hep C

CBC quoted Steve Morgan, a professor at UBC’s school of population and public health, after a woman who contracted hepatitis C through tainted blood has been denied a new medication. B.C. said the drug is too expensive and would bankrupt the health budget.

Morgan said drug companies favour profit over accessibility and the lack of a national drug coverage program makes it hard to negotiate better prices.
