Viola Desmond chosen for the $10 bill

Annette Henry, the David Lam Chair in Multicultural Education at UBC, spoke to Global about the decision to put Viola Desmond on the $10 Canadian bill.

Desmond, a black woman who defied segregation rules in Nova Scotia, will become the first woman other than the queen to have her face on Canadian currency. Henry said this monumental moment in Canadian history shows that people must keep fighting despite systemic barriers.
