Climbing the social ladder can strengthen your immune system

Michael Kobor, a UBC medical genetics professor, was interviewed for Science Magazine about a study that found low social status among rhesus macaque monkeys is associated with poor health and a shorter life span.

Kobor noted that researchers did not control for the early life history of the adult macaques but said the study is very impressive.

“This is super well done,” he said. “It’s going to set the bar for subsequent studies very high.”
