Canadian students need to go to China, but they need help

Maclean’s quoted Qian Wang, the Chinese linguistics program director at UBC, for an article on the need for Canadian students to visit China due to the country’s increasing significance in global affairs.

UBC has offered courses on China since 1948 but only 47 of UBC’s 1,072 exchange students travelled to China last year.

Wang said a lack of financial support is one issue. She organized a 12-week summer immersion program in 2015 that took 14 students through southwest China but she did not run the program again this year.
