Canadian literary community calls for probe into Galloway case

The Globe and Mail and the Vancouver Sun reported on an open letter from the Canadian literary community demanding an independent investigation of UBC’s handling of the Stephen Galloway case.

Galloway was a UBC professor and former head of its creative writing program. He was fired earlier this year after a suspension due to what the university called “serious allegations” and a months-long investigation.

UBC has stated that it has conducted “an impartial, comprehensive investigation” overseen by a former judge and that it has acted in the best interests of students.
