Children’s sleep problems

CBC Early Edition interviewed Wendy Hall, a UBC professor in the school of nursing, about a sleep-improvement program for parents of children with sleep problems.

“We have very busy lives and often sleep is the one thing that we decide is dispensable,” she said.

The segment begins at 1:47:30.

Hall also spoke with Breakfast Television about the lack of support for parents dealing with kids who have sleep problems.

“Often there’s very little help available for them,” she said. “There’s a study done in the U.S. that showed that when parents went to primary care centres, less than two per cent of the children [and their parents] actually got advice around how to deal with the sleep problems.”
