Funding coming to UBC’s ‘cutting-edge research’

The B.C. government announced $3.4 million dollars in funding for “cutting-edge” research at UBC, Global News reported.

This funding will go towards 22 projects including seven at UBC’s Okanagan campus. Some of the projects will focus on new cancer screening technologies, improved treatment of diseases that impair brain function, and examining natural gas processing.

A similar story appeared on Kelowna Now, Kelowna Capital News, and Kelowna Daily Courier.

UBC president Santa Ono spoke to Castanet while in Kelowna for the funding announcement.

“There’s really some very special happening here,” he said. “One of the things I’d like to see happen is that we become even more invested in the community.”
