UBCO students design prototype for alternative shopping cart

Global News featured an alternative shopping cart designed by engineering students at UBC’s Okanagan campus.

The final prototype is made of fiberglass, with a rounded top to prevent hoarding and can be disassembled for easier transport.

“It’s an enclosed structure unlike a shopping cart so it is much easier for people to store things in and let them be protected from the elements, from theft,” said engineering lab manager Bryn Crawford.
