Exercise may equal drugs in helping seniors think more clearly

The South China Morning Post highlighted UBC research that found a regular low impact work-out could be associated with slight improvement in memory for seniors who already have memory and thinking problems.

“This result, while modest, was similar to that seen in previous studies testing the use of drugs for people with vascular cognitive impairment,” said study author Teresa Liu-Ambrose, director of UBC’s aging, mobility, and cognitive neuroscience laboratory.
