UNBC works to get more Aboriginal grads of medical program

CKPG TV reported on the increasing number of Aboriginal graduates from UBC’s Northern Medical Program, based at UNBC.

More than a decade ago UBC set a goal to have 50 more First Nations students graduate from the program by 2020 and surpassed that goal in 2015. Since 2006, 63 Aboriginal students have graduated from UBC’s medical undergraduate program.

UBC has been working closely with UNBC to encourage more Aboriginal high school students and undergraduate students to enroll in medical school with an annual workshop.
