The Tyee quoted Jason Ellis, a UBC professor of educational studies, after the provincial education minister fired the entire Vancouver School Board and replaced the elected representatives with an appointed trustee.
“The school boards are creatures of the provincial government, that’s what the constitution says,” Ellis said. “There’s no requirement to have a school board.”
