Poll show Quebecers more concerned about oil industry impact

UBC sociologist David Tindall was quoted on CBC’s Early Edition about a poll examining attitudes towards the Canadian oil industry.

The Angus Reid poll, conducted along with CBC, found 37 per cent of people in B.C. say our country’s oil industry is a liability due to the environmental risk, compared to 44 per cent of people in Quebec.

Tindall said Quebec has shown more concern regarding ecological issues since 2007.

He said the difference could be because of the high number of British Columbians who are employed by the oil industry.
