Sex assault panelists ‘disappointed’ about draft policy timing

Metro News spoke to Sarah Hunt, a UBC professor of First Nations and Indigenous Studies, and Sara-Jane Finlay, UBC’s Vice President of Equity and Inclusion, for an article on the university’s draft sexual assault policy.

Hunt said members of the panel chosen to make recommendations to inform UBC’s new policy, had hoped the draft would have been released after the panel’s report.

Finlay said the panel’s feedback will inform the final policy.

“All the information will come together and go to the policy committee, who will use all the feedback to redraft the policy. It’s going to be significantly different than the draft that went out in June,” Finlay said.
