Problem-solving exercise gets students working together

The Kelowna Daily Courier featured the inaugural UBC Okanagan Interdisciplinary Games.

Teams of student were challenged to work through a hypothetical influenza epidemic.

“We have people from engineering and arts and medicine and nursing and math and chemistry and more coming together,” said Janet Kluftinger, a UBC Okanagan biology instructor and event organizer. “The problem will change over the course of the day, from school closures to vaccine shortages, and people in different disciplines will take the lead at different points during the day, so they’ll really have an interdisciplinary experience.”
