Games-bid evaluation team raises eyebrows

The Globe and Mail quoted Tsur Somerville, a professor at UBC’s Sauder School of Business, for a story on Calgary’s potential bid for the 2026 Olympics.

Questions are being raise about the team that will decide if the city should put in a bid for the Games. Seven of the 17 voting members have direct links to Olympics and Paralympics.

“Do you think a bunch of Olympians are going to go into this thing with complete objectivity?” Somerville asked. “The notion that it is going to be objective is somewhat hard to take seriously.”
