Survey rates neighbourhoods in Metro Vancouver

A Vancouver Sun article on a recent survey of Metro Vancouver neighbourhoods quotes UBC sociology professor Richard Carpiano.

The survey found that while 73 per cent of West Vancouver residents report having good or excellent health, only 34 per cent of those living in Central Surrey and Vancouver’s Strathcona say the same. Carpiano says the results aren’t surprising because higher income and better education are linked to better health.

He noted that access to medical care seemed to be good across income levels–79 per cent of residents in Surrey Central and Strathcona said they have a family doctor compared to 96 per cent of respondents in West Vancouver.
